ORIGIN
This lot comes from Vereda in Brazil’s Bahia state, where farms sit between 1,100 and 1,250 meters. Here, a small percentage of cherries produce peaberries, a natural mutation that forms a single round seed instead of two flat ones. Known for their dense structure, peaberries roast evenly and develop concentrated flavor. Grown in rich soils under steady tropical conditions, these naturally processed beans offer the smooth, full-bodied profile Brazil is celebrated for.
CRAFT
Our dark roast brings out the bold depth of Brazilian peaberry coffee. Dark chocolate richness is balanced by soft fruit undertones and a creamy, low-acid body. The natural process adds gentle sweetness, making it satisfying for drip brewers, French press, or moka pot. Rare in supply and distinctive in flavor, this lot delivers a classic Brazilian profile with a concentrated intensity unique to peaberries.
Brazil Peaberry FAQ
Expect a bold, smooth cup with dark chocolate, nutty richness, and a touch of sweetness. There is a subtle fruit note in the background, but the main profile is classic dark roast, full-bodied and comforting, with low acidity.
The darker roast is intentional here. It builds deeper chocolate flavour, a heavier body, and a smoother finish, while keeping acidity low. This is the coffee to choose when you want richness and roast character rather than bright, citrusy notes.
A peaberry is a coffee cherry that grows a single, rounded bean instead of two flat-sided beans. Many drinkers find peaberries roast a little more evenly and brew with a concentrated, rounded flavour. This coffee is made entirely from peaberries, which is rare and part of what gives it that focused, rich profile.
Drip coffee is the sweet spot. A drip brewer brings out the dark chocolate and nutty sweetness with an easy, smooth finish. French press is also excellent if you want an even fuller body. Pour-over works, but the profile is designed to be rich and classic rather than delicate and bright.
Use a medium grind and aim for a balanced extraction that keeps the cup smooth. If the coffee tastes bitter or dry, grind slightly coarser or reduce brew time. If the coffee tastes thin, grind slightly finer or use a touch more coffee. This coffee rewards an even, steady brew, not aggressive pouring or heavy agitation.
Yes. Milk and cream lean into the dark chocolate profile and make the cup feel even smoother. This is a great option for coffee with cream if you want a rich, classic taste.
